The resurgence of suede is not untapped by fashion history. During the early 19th century, Parisian women were the first to tailor suede into their gloves, favoring its warmth and velvety texture. From gloves to garments, suede continues to evolve, shaping styling trends across decades. We draw inspiration from past decades today and have seen the revival of the bohemian influence with a Western flair.

Suede may have drifted in and out of fashion, but its presence today is not unnoticed. With its depth and texture, both important elements used to elevate an outfit, suede adds dimension in a way few materials can. Texture is a valuable tool used to add contrast when layering an outfit. As you layer, each piece you add builds more depth and intention into your look. Across all wardrobe categories, suede has become in demand but significantly stood out in the jacket department. Whether long or short, suede jackets have a way to pull a look together, creating a sleek silhouette in your daily style.

First up: Suede Trench Coat

The trench coat remains a timeless staple. Seasoned by every era it's lived through, it offers a silhouette that is both fluid and structured.  Ideal for transitional seasons like fall and spring, the lightweight coat can be trimmed with fur or in its simplest form. The trench’s versatility allows it to be thrown over a pair of sweats when grabbing your morning coffee or the finishing touch before going to dinner. Investing in a suede trench coat pays for itself, proving its worth over time as it ages beautifully and carries a long lasting charm.

Suede on Fringe

FRINGE! Groovy, bold and full of attitude. The right touch to give your outfit that dramatic and effortless sway. Fringe on suede is like a cowboy at a rodeo, completely at home. One piece of advice from me is that - YOU CAN’T HAVE ENOUGH FRINGE. Fringe on Fringe goes. Don't be afraid to layer. Fringe jacket and fringe boots? Yes. Add a fringe purse? Sure. The only thing missing is your confidence to own your outfit when you walk in a room.

Suede Boots

Boots never need to beg for attention. They are a statement all on their own. Bring suede into the picture, and suddenly the boots have more to say. Jay and the Americans might as well be playing "Come a Little Bit Closer" in your ear because you won't be able to get enough. Quality like this demands a second glance. Suede brings that soft feel that gives boots more personality, that is subtle but noticeable.

Three words. LACE UP BOOTS. They may not be everyone's cup of tea but when styled right, they could redefine the western chic trend. This fall, more of these boots have been making their way into the spotlight, so don’t turn your eye away from them too soon.

Belts

Belts are often the final touch to an outfit. It's the missing piece that brings everything together. Besides simply holding your bottoms in place, a belt can add depth, texture, and definition, especially when layering. Cinch a coat, loop over a dress, wear it as a statement. With the right belt, an outfit can transform from good to unforgettable and full of personality.

Suede Skirts

Suede skirts, in any length, only need a simple top to feel stylish. The suede does all the work. Swap a basic tee for a crisp button-down and suddenly you are dinner-ready. Suede is all about texture. Contrast it intentionally through ribbed tops, knitted sweaters, lace camisoles, patterned tights, leather boots, and statement belts. Don't forget your skirt can be the statement too. Accessorize it with dazzling jewels, dramatic fringe, and thoughtful stitching for a standout look.

Suede Hats

Elevate your hat game this fall and don't be afraid to play around with accessories. In 2026, expect to see a lot more moments highlighting hats and hair pieces.  One trend that stood out to me was an elevated twist on the classic bucket hat. As I’ve mentioned before, suede can elevate any wardrobe piece and hats, are no exception. Take your cowboy hat a step further and opt for a suede or felt material for a more luxurious look.

Suede Purses

Your purse is a statement of your style. It's the accessory that goes everywhere with you. Even in your most casual moments, your choice of bag can speak volumes about your stylish personality. Whether your taste leans toward free-spirited boho chic or a relaxed and refined aesthetic, an oversized suede bag is the perfect choice to complete your look. Don't be afraid to embrace a dramatic fringe detail on your purse. That's where your personality can shine through.

Styling a Khaki Brown Suede Jacket

Suede, at its basic, is classy and chic. There is no wrong color to choose from, but to get started, I would recommend a khaki brown. This shade is complimentary to all colors across the spectrum, making it a reliable staple for all four seasons to be used routinely in outfits.

Brown, at its core, pairs effortlessly with a wide range of colors to evoke a fall feel. Layering suede with silk or satin neutrals accented with lace has become a popular styling approach. Materials like knitwear or leather also blend beautifully. Suede is a form of leather; these textures naturally compliment each other well. Complete the look with a tall brown leather boot and accessorize with a bandana or scarf. Tie it around your neck, weave it into your hair, wrap it around your waist, or knot it onto your bag. Knitted bandanas, in particular, are a moving fashion trend, perfect for layering on top of coats as we head into the colder winter months.

Suede Protection

Your suede pieces are investments. Suede, a form of leather, is a quality material that will hold up well over time. It's important to protect your investment by carefully caring for your piece. Purchase a quality suede protectant and apply generously so that your piece can be loved long for many generations passed down.

Before application, brush your suede material with a suede brush for even application. 8-10 inches away from the suede, spray in a well-ventilated area. Wait 24 hours before wearing and brush one more time.

Small Take on Winter Suede Predictions

This winter, fur is already dominating style trends. Even though suede's lightweight material cannot stand alone in cold temperatures, we will see it paired with fur trim for a layered, luxurious look. Suede boots will also remain a staple this winter, especially when styled with patterned tights.
